A.Marble Booklet. (a photographic collection of the area)

Cover / Throughout the centuries marble has been a material of great importance for the history of Athens. “A.” is a project based on this material. I firmly believe that typography on the surface of marble could produce a unique effect and a different point of view about typography.

Inside / The alternative point of view about Kerameikos.
This project is designed to encounter the atmosphere of the exhibition in a different way. The format and the print on rice paper could help the reader to see the city from new perspectives.

The museum's aesthetic is promoted through images into a composition of colours, figures and typography. A balanced design into strong symbolic images of the city.

In the entrance room of the museum, the visitor should be informed about the main subject of the exhibition. A combination of symbolic pictures, colours and typography.

My proposal for the promotion of the exhibition is a packaging design of a chewing gum package, which is also the invitation of the opening day of the museum. At the back of the package you can watch the invitation part, where 7 packages with different Athens flavours are presented.

Illustration poster

This illustration represents my surrealistic point of view about the area of Kerameikos in the centre of Athens. Through images from different parts of the city, I present the seven capital vices.
In this outdoor poster’s illustration are presented :
• The pig – symbolism* of gluttony
• The goat – * pride
• The coach – * sloth
• The tall buildings – * greed
• The snake - * lust
• The scorpion - * envy
• The traffic light - * wrath

7 is the natural number following 6 and preceding 8.

Through this project I would like to incorporate the main aspects of graphic design into a reasonable and interesting concept. I was inspired by the Latin poet Dante Alighieri (Purgatorio) and I tried to combine features from different disciplines such as urban life and literature.

In this project each sin is related with one certain colour:

· luxuria* (lust) magenda
· gula* (gluttony) orange
· avaritia* (greed) gold
· acedia* (sloth) brown
· ira* (wrath) red
· invidia* (envy) green
· superbia* (pride) cyan

My dissertation, entitled "The seven deadly sins in the big city", consists in the production of all visual material required for a -fictitious- exhibition taking place in an -imaginary- museum in the centre of Athens - Kerameikos. The name of the exhibition-room is “επ7ά” in greek, (“se7en” in english), as it is based on the number seven of Kerameikos street.

* Kerameikos is a unique area in the city of Athens.Today is a poor immigrant ‘s neighbourhood but in the past it was one of the richest suburds of the city.This combination of past and present gives to the area a mysterious aesthetics and at the same time an alternative perspective of the big city.
